Anyone know how to repair computer sound card?

My computer completley crashed last week, so i had to reinstall my complete computer driver. Since I have reinstalled everything my sound does not work at all. I have done the troubleshoot & contacted the device manager on my computer, however this has not fixed the problem. The computer manufactor wants to charge 40.00 for a link to repair the sound card. Anyone who knows how I can repair the sound card for free would be greatley appreciated.

You didn't say who the manufacturer of your sound card was. With that information, it might have been possible to give you a more specific solution.

However, no matter. Start here:

http://www.driverguide.com/

They have drivers for hardware that I've never heard of!! Search for the drivers for your hardware by manufacturer name and sound card model number.

You will have to register, but that's free too.

Once you find the right drivers, you can open up the device manager, select your sound card (or unidentified device) from the list, right click on it and select "Update Driver". Then follow the prompts to install your newly downloaded drivers.

If your sound card doesn't show up in the device manager list, even as an unidentified device, then you will probably need to have an executable or MSI file to install the drivers first, and then let the device manager "discover" the card and install it. Once you have installed the drivers manually, right click on your computer name (at the top of the device manager list) and select Scan for Hardware changes.

Good Luck!
