How do I recover my computer after having been hijacked?

My computer running on WinXP has been hijacked with "Malwarrior" virus/spyware. The virus has locked me out and rendered any keys inoperable. I couldn't get on the internet to download any software to help me get rid of the virus. Short of reformatting my HD, any recommendations on how to rescue my computer?

I use these programs to clean friends computers.
Just for the record, I have no connection to any of these companies.
I just think they make good, free, and effective products.

1)Get spybot search and destroy, install, update and run.

2)Get avgfree anti virus, install, update and run.

3)Get Avira antivirus, install update, and run(dont use both AVG and Avira, pick one)

Zonealarm is a good free firewall product.

Get copies of those programs on a working pc.
copy the installs to a flash drive

boot the problem pc in safe mode with netoworking(F8 when you power on).
login as administrator
install spybot first, do the updates
do a full system scan.
after it removes what it finds, then do the avgfree.
update it, do a full scan.

then reboot normally, install windows defender do updates and full scan.
